WE ALL DESERVE TO BE FIT!

I01 August

FIT BLOG;Are we eating ourselves to death?

THIS IS MY FAT TO FIT BLOG.

My Mission to change the way we think about food' To re-educate and re-empower the people to really take their life in their own hands. After all we only have one life and we all deserve to live it to the fullest. 'FIT CAN BE AFFORDABLE'. It should not be  the preserve of the  celebs its for you too!!

FACT; I this 'ready-meal' pre packaged era we are being sold a lie. We are eating ourselves to death.

The lie is convenience. With this convenience comes a price to pay. The price is your health. Put simply as Gillian McKeith in her prog  said' you are what you eat'. This was by no means a new concept and nutritionist and dieticians have been echoing this for a good few years but the message is not getting through in an accessible way to the people who need it most. The tabloids, sun, star and mirror produce many articles with dramatic headlines and have the power to reach a wide section of society who is incidentally the most likely to be obese. Yet they use these sensationalist headlines purely for selling and will offer print a 'free big mac ' voucher alongside!! They warn of the pitfalls of over-eating but it seems people disconnect themselves with such stories. Others such as the Mail, express, Times print serious articles using well researched facts but they do not reach the people who need them most. They alienate with their wordy paragraphs and so the story goes un-read by millions who would benefit.
Reading horror gastric band stories or how a celeb dropped 10 kgs is not the way forward to helping yourself. Practical simple direct advice from a team of trained people is far more effective.

The tv progs that concentrate on diet and fitness and new life style changes are a chance for only the lucky few not the majority of people. The media has its own agenda, its progs/documentaries are their to get ratings and provide entertainment, but what happens after the prog ends? Do the people carry on being fit? They will often do the 'one year later' add on prog ( a good easy money maker for the tv company) and re-visit the slimmer to see how they are doing. There are also the old favourites like 'weight-watchers' aimed at the middle aged house-wife or the newer glossier 'slimming-world'. They are beneficial in that they add a social out let for women ( they are aimed at women) to seek support from the group and gain will-power from attending weekly sessions. The meal-plans are set out and the calories counted. But it usually ends with relapse. What it doesn't help you to do is really know your food. You are told what to eat without knowing why its good for you. You pay a costly subscription for your set meal plan. Also what about the men? Surly they need help to. Rather than looking from an aesthetic quick fix view we need to get to the root of the problem.

There is a gap. My aim is to create an organization that works nationally to help all people re-gain their fitness and energy!! Not through ad campaigns or tv shows but through clear practical educational workshops in which people learn to love their bodies and fuel them with the right foods to have energy and vitality!

Food nutrition education needs to start at a young age with the kids if we are to tackle the obesity epidemic and reduce the huge crippling NHS bills.

Recently I was shocked to see the 'Weight Watchers' line of food in a supermarket contained vast amounts of sugar/salt additives. Yes its fat content was low but this was a trick on the consumer as the SUGAR content was double what it should be. After all these are profitable companies who are out to make money use gimmicks and catchy slogan to do so.

The general public. What we are not told is what goes into these fast food meals, but we certainly see what comes out. If we assess the changing habits of a nation (world) we can see that we now have less time to relax, eat , sleep, all this impacts on our health. Coupled with this is the fact that we are piling in mountains of non-nutritious foods that add empty calories and are usually robbed of vitamins/minerals due to the was they are processed.

My own health problems have lead me to re-evaluate my food habits!! I am in the process in creating an accessible life style plan to tackle the nations obesity epedemic. This government is all about cost cutting in an insecure economic climate so how about we reduce the billion pound NHS bill that  comes from obesity and the health complications that are born from it such as ;heart failure, hyper-tension, diabetes, strokes, cancer,etc...the list is imeasurable. The increase in autism and associated spectrum disorders can also be linked or exacesserbated by diet choices. Having an autistic son myself I am aware of the effect food has upon him.
Working with the conservative government backing we can give the people their quality of life back and reduce the massive NHS bills. With simple healthy life style changes. With help of government backing/private companies/sponsors/nhs/schools/sports schemes/sure start I aim to provide people knowledge and incentive and reach those who cannot afford a personal trainer/nutritionist. Long has it been the preserve of the rich celebs to every now and again have a complete body over haul. I aim to provide practical workshops that help the average person take control of their eating habits, know their food, enjoy their food and find fitness !

'LET FOOD BE YOUR MEDICINE AND MEDICINE BE YOUR FOOD' HIPPOCRATES 400BC

IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT AS i WANDER THE AVERAGE STREETS OF A U.K TOWN THAT WE ARE BIGGER THAN EVER BEFORE... ON EVERY CORNER HANGS A SMOKER YOUNG OR OLD, AN OBESE OAP IN A MOTOR CHAIR OR A 'HEAVEY' FOUR YEAR OLD SLURPING A COKE. WE ARE MEANT TO BE SUPER ADVANCED BUT ALAS WE ARE MORE  ILL-INFORMED AND UNHAPPY TODAY THAN WE HAVE EVER BEEN.

TO BE CONTINUED.........( MY AUTISTIC SON IS CALLING)

TIP 4 THE DAY;   START YOUR DAY WITH A CUP OF HOT WATER WITH A SLICE OF LEMON IN IT. TRY IT INSTEAD OF TEA/COFFEE. THE LEMON ZING WILL WAKE YOU UP LIKE CAFFEINE. ( NOTE IF YOU REGULARLY DRINK CAFFEINE YOU MAY EXPERIENCE HEADACHES/TIREDNESS WHEN STOPPING. CAFFEINE  IS A DRUG LIKE NICOTINE AND CAUSES DEPENDENCY) IT ALSO MESSES WITH YOUR METABOLIC RATE WHICH CAN LEAD TO INCREASED WEIGHT GAIN.
